Sensory Science RaveMP 2100

WHAT'S HOT: Functions as a dictation machine, with a built-in microphone that allows about 4 hours of voice recording. This model features more track information than most players. The RaveMP features an icon-based LCD that's easy to understand. And unlike most players, this unit needs only one battery. If you're into style, the RaveMP's design will please: Its sharp, chiseled top looks something like Dr. Spock would have clipped on his belt.

WHAT'S NOT: Alas, we didn't like what we heard. The RaveMP had the poorest sound quality of the MP3 players we tested. We found the audio software cumbersome to use, as you can transfer songs from your PC to the player only one at a time. Like the Creative Labs Nomad II, this unit is covered for 90 days.

WHAT ELSE: The unit ships with 21 free songs from artists such as Frank Black and the Catholics and They Might Be Giants, courtesy of EMusic.

BEST USE: Not the best deal, but a good choice for those looking for style, a voice recorder, and lots of controls.
