Apple has begun removing negative app reviews from apps that were affected by the bug that caused updates to crash last week
More than 100 apps were affected by the problem, which was caused by an error in Apple's DRM code generation for App Store apps. Among those were Instapaper, GoodReader, and Angry Birds HD Free.
Of course, iOS users unaware of the problem being experienced by developers during the error period were annoyed that their apps were crashing upon launch, and many negative reviews were written on Apple's App Stores as a result of the problem.
Apple later acknowledged and rectified the problem, and Macworld reported that its sources had said that Apple would be removing all one star reviews that had been left during the period of time when the apps were affected.
Over the weekend, it appears that Apple has been doing just that. As noted by MacStories, apps such as Instapaper and GoodReader were showing no reviews for the latest versions as of Friday morning.
Apple has rereleased all of the updates for the corrupted apps, in turn moving reviews left during the time when apps were experiencing problems into the "All Versions" tab. By re-issuing the broken version again as a working update, Apple has enabled customers to re-install the update without having to delete the app first.
The report suggests that this move meant that some of the negative reviews still remained, but we checked several of the affected apps' "All Versions" reviews and couldn't find any comments from unhappy customers left during last week's corruption period.
