1. Install the Network Card

Turn off your PC and unplug it from the wall. Consider using an antistatic wrist strap (available from a local electronics-supply store such as RadioShack). Locate a free PCI or ISA slot (depending on which type of card your network kit has), and remove the metal cover at the rear of the slot. Carefully insert the card and fasten it down with a screw.
