Logitech QuickCam Web

Now when you look at the world over the Internet, the world can look back.

It's amazing how much fun Logitech's crammed into its eyeball-size QuickCam Web Internet video camera. The USB camera's integrated microphone makes creating sound videos and Webcasts conveniently easy. After the let's-make-funny-faces novelty subsides, you can use the QuickCam to shoot still pictures, produce video e-mail (complete with a built-in player for the recipients), and host live Web video/audio broadcasts via Spotlife.com; it can even serve as a motion-detection security device.

Speaking of security, the QuickCam's no-fair-peeking privacy visor swivels over the camera's lens when you want to leave the device on but block its view. The software bundled with the camera lets you play video games, create video greetings, and conduct teleconferences. It may not be Panavision, but at least now you'll always be ready for your close-up, Mr. DeMille.

What's hot: Inexpensive, easy to set up and use, and fun for all ages.

What's not: The low video quality.

Geek factor: High
