Palm Releases M105, With Built-In Net Connection
PDA with 8MB of memory and bundled connectivity software is priced at $199.

Palm continues to grow its popular line of personal digital assistants, now releasing the M105, an incremental upgrade from the Palm M100, which made its debut late last year.
The M105 is essentially the M100 with additional memory and preinstalled Internet connectivity software that the M100 lacked. The PDA weighs just 6 ounces and is priced at $199. Available now in North America, the unit will be available worldwide by mid-month.
The M105, which comes in the same form factor as the M100 and offers the same removable faceplate system for customizing the device, sports 8MB of memory (as opposed to the M100's 2MB), Palm OS 3.5, a backlit LCD screen, and a serial port docking cradle.
For connectivity it has the Palm Mobile Internet Kit (which lets you connect to the Internet using a mobile phone), as well as America Online for Palm OS. Also included are standard Palm applications such as a date book, an address book, a to-do list, and a notepad. Not included are a USB cradle or Macintosh-compatibility hardware, which each must be purchased separately.
More New PDAs Expected
Palm also separately offers 19 detachable faceplates in colors such as ruby pearl, citrus, tangerine twist, arctic white, leopard, Pacific blue, and bubblegum. The M105 comes standard in a gray case. Each faceplate costs $19.95.
The product announcement comes among widespread Internet speculation that Palm competitor and licensee Handspring is also preparing to announce a new model soon, rumored to be called the Visor Edge. Listings for the as-yet-unannounced device were spotted on Staples.com and Sparco.com earlier this week but have since been removed.
