Apple Runs Windows With New PC-Compatible PowerMac for the Office

Systems sport 166-MHz Pentium CPU cards.

Hoping to breathe some life into its desktop business, beleaguered Apple today rolled out new PC-compatible PowerMacs targeted at the commercial market. %dquotWith these PC-compatible systems, our customers can buy a Macintosh to do all of their critical work, and easily interact with the Windows environment as needed,%dquot said Phil Schiller, vice president of product marketing for desktops and servers at Apple.

The PowerMac 7300 sports a 180-MHz PowerPC 603e processor, a 166-MHz Pentium PCI card, 32MB of RAM on the system, 16MB of RAM on the PCI card, a 2GB hard drive, 256K of Level 2 cache, 2MB of VRAM, a 12-speed CD-ROM drive, and both Mac OS 7.6.1 and Windows 95. It will be priced at $3200.
