Last-Minute Mother%squots Day Ideas, Courtesy of the Internet

Forgot about Mom again, eh? Tsk, tsk. Lucky for you, the Web can still bail you out.

No offense, but shouldn%squott you be out shopping for Mom right now? That poor woman slaved for years to bring you up! Aren%squott you ashamed?

Well, don%squott worry. We%squotve dug up some last-minute solutions for Mother%squots Day.

A good browser and a working credit card can still get you out of trouble. Head on over to Online Occasions, a great resource for the holiday panic-stricken. This site indexes hundreds of online gift sites that will deliver to Mom on short notice.

These guys have a good thing going here--they%squotve registered the domain names of most major holidays (www.Happy-Anniversary.com, www.Hanukah.com, www.FathersDay.com) and offer more than 60 gift categories to choose from. It%squots all here, from typical fare like cards, flowers, and singing telegrams to more adventurous gifts such as balloon rides, psychics, and extreme sports. Many of the linked sites have online purchasing options, and if not, there%squots always a phone number to call.

If you want a quick fix, try the Florist%squots National Directory. From here, you can choose from dozens of full-color photo images of arrangements, and pay over a secure line with your credit card. Delivery is nationwide, and they offer same-day and next-day delivery--an important service, in your case.

If you can%squott even get out to put a card in the mail, DearMom.com can help. A very funny and well-designed site, DearMom offers to stamp and deliver a real, honest-to-God card that you choose from their extensive online collection. Bless %squotem, they too have an overnight option, but you%squotll pay for it. Cards are $3.75 plus $20 for overnight delivery, but that%squots what you get for procrastinating.

Although you can%squott sign your card, DearMom allows you to send a personal message that they print in the font of your choice. They%squotve also teamed with AT&T to allow you to record a personal message to an 800 number, which is forwarded along with your card. Then Mom dials a corresponding 800 number and gets to hear the sweet sound of your voice, which she%squotll love and cherish, since you never call! Your own mother! Honestly!

If you%squotre lucky enough to have a wired Mom, you can send her an electronic card, or even a URL pointing to a custom Web site--for free. (After all, it%squots the thought that counts. Right, moneybags?) Plenty of sites offer this service, but a good place to start is Family Planet%squots House of Cards. You type your message and select a card, then provide Mom%squots e-mail address. Family Planet does the rest, sending Mom an e-mail with a URL that takes her back to your thoughtfully chosen electronic card.

Theres no time to waste! Get on it! If we make just one Mom happy this Mother%squots Day, our work will be complete. You can thank us later.
