Storage Company OnStream Returns From Bankruptcy
Company's Advanced Digital Recording technology survives fiscal troubles.

When tape backup drive manufacturer OnStream filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in March, it appeared to be the end of its three-year-old Advanced Digital Recording tape drive technology.
Never count a good storage company down, though. Thanks to a new infusion of cash from private investors, OnStream is back as OnStream Data B.V.
What does that mean to customers? It means the 30GB and 50GB tape drives the company was selling before it filed for bankruptcy will continue to be available.
However, the company is now based totally in the Netherlands, whereas it once had offices in Longmont, Colorado. The company has always manufactured the ADR tape drives in the Netherlands, and that won't change.
Technology Warrants Revival
OnStream CEO Arjan Warnaar thinks the company's revival demonstrates the strength of the company's products.
"OnStream's ADR technology has already been validated and continues to evolve. Sales of drives have grown tremendously since market introduction," Warnaar says.
OnStream Data will offer a range of products, including 30GB IDE internal and USB and FireWire external drives, 30GB internal and external SCSI desktop drives, and a line of multi-platform 30GB and 50GB SCSI drives for server backup.
