Crossfire: We%squotre More Compatible Than You Are, Says Gates
Microsoft%squots Gates takes issue with accusations that IE 4 is not compliant with Java and accuses Sun%squots McNealy of a bias against PCs.
Microsoft%squots CEO Bill Gates fired back today. During a meeting in Switzerland he told reporters that Sun%squots claims are not factual; Microsoft is trying hard to be compatible. Gates said IE4 is more in compliance with the spec than Sun%squots products and those of other licensees.
Gates also accused Sun of being biased against personal computers. He said Sun%squots worried because PCs are becoming more powerful and taking over some of the tasks of Sun%squots workstation hardware.
According to Gates, %dquotThey have always hated PCs. They think PCs give people too much freedom, too much power.%dquot
