Iiyama I91A
WHAT'S HOT: The 19-inch I91A produced adequately sharp text at small point sizes and vivid colors in photos. With a 17.5-inch depth, which is smaller than average for a 19-inch CRT, it should fit fairly easily into tight spaces.
WHAT'S NOT: The I91A costs a bit more than the average 19-inch CRT monitor we tested, though it does buy the benefit of a flat-screen Mitsubishi Diamondtron NF tube, which can help reduce screen glare. However, that $345 doesn't buy you any extras, such as color- or image-adjusting software, or USB ports. Iiyama only provides technical support for 10 hours on weekdays.
WHAT ELSE: Iiyama's well-organized on-screen controls are easy to use thanks to an "information" key, which, once activated, provides a definition of each control as it is pressed. Iiyama's comprehensive documentation for the I91A also explains the aperture grill technology used in the Diamondtron tube, which might be interesting for new computer users.
UPSHOT: While the I91A's image quality is above average, even better performance can be found in less expensive models.
