Bottom Line
If you want a hot GeForce3 board with a hearty helping of bundled extras, this one's for you.
Asus AGP-V8200 Deluxe
WHAT'S HOT: The Asus AGP-V8200 Deluxe is packed with a host of hardware features such as S-Video-in and -out, composite-out, and even 3D VR glasses for an immersing 3D-gaming experience--and it's got speedy, GeForce3 performance to boot. Throw in the $55 optional TV tuner, and you've got one serious graphics card ready for almost any duty.
This card performed on a par with the other GeForce3 cards we've tested. In Quake III it hit 74 frames per second at 1600-by-1200-pixel resolution using 32-bit color. In MDK2 at our 1024-by-768 test resolution, it hit a whopping 109 fps, far exceeding the Asus AGP-V7100 MX-400 card's score of 68 fps at the same resolution and color depth.
WHAT'S NOT: Darker areas in Unreal Tournament appeared slightly fuzzy. Asus offers only nine hours of technical support on weekdays and no toll-free support line.
WHAT ELSE: The Asus AGP-V8200 Deluxe comes with three games: Messiah, Star Trek New Worlds, and Sacrifice.
UPSHOT: If you want a hot GeForce3 board with a hearty helping of bundled extras, this one could be for you. But check out the newer models before you commit your cash.
