CTX EX700F
WHAT'S HOT: The EX700F offers solid text quality--especially noticeable in Microsoft Word and Excel documents--plus a bargain price of $185.
WHAT'S NOT: The monitor we looked at had some difficulty displaying high-contrast images. Our test screen of fine alternating black and white pinstripes, for example, came out looking mostly gray. Colors in our photograph tests also looked a bit dull.
WHAT ELSE: The CTX's on-screen controls are relatively simple and intuitive, and there's one-touch access to both brightness and contrast adjustments. The buttons on the front bezel were not very responsive, however: We sometimes had to tap them several times before they would register.
UPSHOT: The CTX EX700F is a fine choice for price-conscious buyers.
