Diamond Introduces $100 AGP2x Video Board

AGP-based Stealth II G460 graphics board runs on Intel740.

Diamond Multimedia on Tuesday announced the Stealth II G460, its first AGP2x graphics board featuring the speedy Intel740 processor. Other graphics accelerators using the Intel740 have shown impressive results in PC World testing. The Diamond board%squots introductory price is $99.95 after a mail-in rebate.

The Stealth II G460 features 8MB of SDRAM; 2D, 3D, and video capabilities; and Intel740%squots AGP2x, the highest level of Accelerated Graphics Port technology. That means the G460 moves data quickly and efficiently, and stores detailed graphics textures in your PC%squots main memory. It also renders 3D features pixel by pixel, which produces sharper visual effects.

Diamond%squots new Stealth II board has a 203-MHz DAC and supports 24-bit color at 1152-by-864 resolution, or up to 1600-by-1200 resolution at lower bit depths. Geared for businesspeople as well as gamers, the G460 comes bundled with Fremont Professional, a 3D animation package for PowerPoint, a 3D AGP game by Rage Software, BackWeb software, and Internet Explorer.

Diamond estimates that the G460 will sell for $129.95 after the rebate offer expires September 30, 1998.
