Intel to Cut P-II Prices by up to 20 Percent

Cuts could shave more than $100 off high-end systems; 350- and 400-MHz chips to fall in July.

All these falling prices--a person could get used to this routine.

Look for Intel to chop prices on its Pentium II processors next month. Analysts say the chipmaker will announce price cuts of as much as 20 percent on June 7th.

While not quite as steep as last quarter%squots cuts, the new Pentium II prices could help to shave a hundred dollars or more from systems based on Intel%squots high-end chips.

The 266- and 300-MHz Pentium IIs will drop in price by about 20 percent in June. The new 350- and 400-MHz parts will go down about 16 and 12 percent respectively. The 333-MHz Pentium II will remain unchanged in June, but Intel is expected to cut it by about 16 percent in late July.
