The 16th Annual World Class Awards: And the Winners Are...
Find out who won our awards for best products of the year in all hardware and software categories.
PC World editors, testers, and contributors examined hundreds of products in 60 categories on the basis of performance, value, consistency, and innovation.
Among some of the many winners: The Product of the Year award went to Intel%squots Pentium II processor; Dell%squots Dimension XPS D series won for best business desktop PC; and Gateway%squots G series won best home desktop PC.
The full results appear in the July issue of the magazine and are online now.
If you take a look, you%squotll notice under the Internet section that no winner was named for Best Web Browser. PC World Senior Associate Editor Brad Grimes says that it was a two-horse race between Microsoft%squots Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape%squots Communicator 4, but neither, in the opinion of the magazine%squots editors, merits an award.
While it%squots not yet in the same league as Microsoft%squots or Netscape Communications%squot offering, the latest version of the Opera Web browser from Opera software was named winner of the PC World Most Promising Web Newcomer award.
