Eudora to AOL Members: We%squotve Got Mail

Free upgrade to Eudora Pro 4.0 will work with America Online and import settings, e-mail, and addresses from Microsoft Outlook and Netscape Communicator.

NEW YORK--Eudora 4 fans will soon be able to use the latest version of the venerable e-mail client with their America Online e-mail. This ability was one of three major features from an upcoming interim release previewed here at PC Expo.

Eudora 4.1 is due by the end of next month; current Eudora 4.0 users will be able to download it for free from the Web site of publisher QualComm. In addition to AOL support, Eudora 4.1 adds the ability to import e-mail account settings, address books, and even messages from either Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Outlook.

The third major improvement is the ability to send or receive e-mail in the background--that is, while performing other tasks within the program. Currently you cannot work in Eudora while it%squots downloading or uploading e-mail, and large message files can take minutes.

Eudora 4.1 is free to current Eudora 4.0 users. For new users, the software costs $39 for the e-mail client only, or $59 for a version bundled with fax and other communications software.
