Gainward CardExpert GeForce2 Ti/500 XP VIVO Golden Sample
WHAT'S HOT: The CardExpert GeForce2 Ti/500 XP VIVO Golden Sample is extremely fast for a previous-generation card. In many test games, the board posted frame rates near, and sometimes higher than, those of power cards. Its frame-rate scores beat those of the ATI Radeon 8500 in Unreal Tournament at all but one of our test resolutions and color depths, and it tied the Radeon in that test. At the highest test resolution--1600 by 1200 at a 32-bit color depth--both cards posted a score of 57 frames per second.
WHAT'S NOT: By default, this card installs in overclocked mode. However, it does provide an option to install the card in nonoverclocked mode, which is the mode we used to test it. MSI no longer manufactures cards with this model's previous-generation chip, so supplies are running short.
WHAT ELSE: This card is equipped with S-Video-in and -out as well as composite-in and -out hardware. Overclocking, DVD, and video-editing software round out its software bundle.
UPSHOT: You get lots of speed for the money with this older card.
