Philips Brilliance 109P
WHAT'S HOT: The 109P sailed through our graphics test, rendering vivid colors and fine detail in photos and on a Web page.
WHAT'S NOT: Although text on the 109P looked fairly sharp, it was not as dense as we've seen on other displays. Text at small point sizes was fairly legible, but darker text would have been easier to read. Also, at $430, the 109P is somewhat pricey for a 19-inch display that doesn't include USB ports or built-in speakers.
WHAT ELSE: The 109P's on-screen controls were extremely easy to use, thanks to text explanations that pop up when individual buttons are pressed. Advanced controls include horizontal and vertical convergence and moire.
UPSHOT: The 109P would make a good choice for general-purpose use, such as writing e-mail messages and surfing the Internet. Those who often work on long text documents may want to look elsewhere.
