Newcomers Add 3D Muscle to Graphics Boards

More boards flex 3D muscle in our upcoming Top 10 Graphics Boards.

Our ongoing Top 10 Graphics Boards chart will never focus on 3D functionality. After all, more readers use their systems for business and productivity applications than for down-and-dirty gaming.

At the same time, we know it's not an all-work-and-no-play world. So each month we measure both mixed-media business functionality and 3D performance. Whether you're talking about tried-and-true PCI-interface cards or the newer AGP-based products, the trend has been to faster 3D performance.

3D Power Building
Our upcoming January 1999 Top 10 Graphics Boards will carve yet another notch by adding more 3D power. Four new boards make the chart next month, and the number of cards rating Excellent on 3D performance jump from six in the current December issue to eight in January's review.

But don't worry, business users: On balance, mixed-media business performance also shows an improvement--although not as dramatic a jump as 3D performance.

For more information and buying recommendations, see Top 10 Graphics Boards in the upcoming January 1999 issue of PC World magazine. The December issue (see link at right) ranks new and current graphics boards.
