Gainward GeForce3 PowerPack Ti/450

WHAT'S HOT: The price is certainly attractive: At $169, this is one of the cheapest NVidia GeForce3 Ti 200-based graphics cards around. The frame rates in our test games were as high as any other cards that we've seen using this GPU, even at high resolutions. Colors were bright (especially the gore in Quake 3) and looked accurate.
WHAT'S NOT: Judges noted some texture shortcomings in one game (Test Drive 6), however these were similar to a problem we have seen with several other cards. Although colors looked bright, details in the shadows were sometimes obscured due to relatively high contrast. This occasionally made it difficult when playing games to see what was hiding in the dark corners.
WHAT ELSE: The manuals that come with the card are adequate, if somewhat basic. And relatively few extras come with this card: It has no video inputs or bundled games. The standard software DVD player is included, though.
UPSHOT: For those looking for high performance in games at a low price, this card provides excellent value for money.
