Our first chart of music players ranks both flash-media and CD/hard-disk devices.

Regardless of how you like your music, our inaugural chart of digital audio players has something for you. Our Top 10 is divided into two groups: players that rely on flash media, and devices that use hard disks or CDs. Flash-media players are small and relatively inexpensive, but provide limited storage space; hard-drive models offer terrific capacity (20GB worth of music is about 4000 songs), but command a high price. CD devices fall somewhere in between.
