Apple's Bluetooth headset for the iPhone has been revealed to be the funky-appearing Aliph Jawbone.

The device has been developed by Aliph and will be sold alongside the iPhone at all Apple's 157 U.S. retail stores and its online store when iPhone ships in the U.S. at 6 p.m. on June 29.

The headset integrates the latest innovations in acoustics, audio processing and product design to furnish users with excellent incoming and outgoing voice clarity.

Jawbone also deploys an advanced, military-grade noise-canceling system called Noise Shield. This has a dual function: it eliminates background noise while adjusting speaker volume throughout a call, making for better quality calls.

Aliph claims its headset makes it possible to carry on a conversation in even the noisiest environments.

"As the leader in audio quality, it's exciting for us to have the Jawbone paired with the most innovative mobile phone platform in history," said Hosain Rahman, Aliph CEO. "We believe consumers will find that the marriage of these products delivers the best experience in terms of quality and sophistication."

The device has been put together by industrial designer Yves Behar, principal of fuseproject and vice president and creative director of Aliph.

"Aliph, like Apple, believes in design perfection and a seamless human experience with the product," commented Behar.

The headset was launched earlier this year. Since then it has won a series of prestigious awards, including the International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award and the prestigious iF Product Design Award. It is also currently on exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

It's not cheap, though: Available in silver, red and black the headset costs US$119.99.
