Adium the popular multi-service instant messaging and chat client for Mac OS X, has been updated to version 1.1. Adium is free.

Adium supports a number of different instant messaging protocols - everything from AIM/iChat to MSN, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and more.

New to this release are new tab controls that let you arrange tabs on any side of the message view; tabs that handle overflow better; spring-loaded tabs; and the ability to have each tab display the number of unread messages.

Adium 1.1 is also prettier and faster, according to the developers. It features smoother animations to let you know when people come online and go offline. The contact list's ability to hide like the Dock has been improved, Buzz on Yahoo and Nudge on MSN are fully supported, and much more.

Adium 1.1 requires Mac OS X v10.4.0 or later.
