Studio Network Solutions (SNS) on Monday announced Ellipse and Ellipse Enterprise Fibre Channel expansion cards for Mac Pros and Power Macs. The cards start at $779.
SNS is offering single, dual-port and quad-port versions for PCI Express (PCIe)-equipped Power Macs and Mac Pros. A PCI-X version is also available for older Power Macs. Optimized for distributing digital video, the cards can handle uncompressed HD and up to 2K resolution.
SNS is also offering the cards bundled with SANmp software, which enables MAcs to share data over Fibre Channel and iSCSI networks. A single-port Ellipse card and SANmp are priced together for $1499; a dual-port card bundle costs $1969.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4.8 or later.
