Fujitsu Computer Products of America on Monday introduced the Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M mobile scanner for Mac users. It will be priced at $295 when it is released in March.

The ScanSnap S300M is the latest iteration of Fujitsu's business scanners equipped with Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) capabilities and double-sided scanning. This model is especially designed for mobile users, however -- it measures 11.2 x 3.7 x 3.0 inches and operates from a USB 2.0 connection without needing an AC power supply.

The device can scan paper documents, receipts, bills, invoices and business cards; users can stack up to 10 documents in the ADF and press the "Scan" button; the ScanSnap S300M produces PDF files at up to 8 double-sided pages per minute (ppm).

The device is bundled with Cardiris software for business card scanning, ScanSnap Manager for adjusting the scanner's settings, and ScanSnap Quick Menu for document control.

The scanner will automatically detect color on the page and adjust settings accordingly; it will also automatically recognize blank pages and delete them. The ScanSnap S300M can automatically orient and deskew pages and automatically detects paper size too, from business cards to legal length.
