Aspyr Media announced last week that Apple retail stores around the country are hosting tournaments for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The game is available for Mac and PC and sold, among other places, in Apple stores.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is the music game in which you play guitar using a special guitar-shaped controller, matching notes on screen as rock and roll hits from classic songs to the modern age are played. The game features "boss" appearances by Slash from Guns 'n' Roses and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine.

Participating stores include locations in Bloomington, Minn., San Francisco, Stockton, Pasadena and Santa Monica, Calif., Tampa, Fla., Albany, NY, Peabody, Mass., Houston, Texas, Chicago, Ill., and New York, NY.

Winners will receive prizes including iTunes gift cards. You can visit the individual Web sites for each participating Apple store for more details, including dates and times.
