Other World Computing (OWC) on Thursday announced the release of the 500GB Mercury On-The-Go, a new high-capacity version of their portable hard drive. It costs US$359.

The Mercury On-The-Go features FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 interface support. Inside is a 500GB hard disk drive mechanism operating at 5400 RPM. It's bus-powered, so you don't need an external power supply.

The 500GB model joins other Mercury On-The-Go drives ranging in capacity from 40GB to 200GB. OWC offers various models equipped with the triple interface as found on the 500GB model, USB and FireWire "combo" drives, FireWire 400, USB 2.0 only, and USB 2.0 and eSATA. Currently, the 500GB model is only available in the triple-interface variety.
