Bug Delays Photoshop Express Update

Adobe late Wednesday postponed a promised update to its Photoshop Express online image-editing product, citing the discovery of a bug just before launching the update.

Earlier in the day, Adobe said it would add support for the popular Flickr online photo-sharing service to Express, which is currently available as a public beta. The update, which was to have gone live at 9:01 p.m. PDT Wednesday, would have let Photoshop Express users download photos from a Flickr account into the online image editor, add effects, and upload them back to Flickr.

On Wednesday evening, however, Adobe announced it was postponing the planned update. "Prior to going live, we discovered a bug that requires a fix," said a statement released by the Photoshop Express team. "We're committed to delivering a quality experience with Photoshop Express and don't want to send out an update that isn't ready for prime time."

Adobe said it hoped to resolve the problem quickly, at which time it would release the Express update.

In addition to Flickr support, the update to Photoshop Express also would have added a Save As feature for saving multiple versions of an image and an embedded player for posting slideshows to Facebook, MySpace, and other social networking sites.
