Olympus has introduced a new digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera, the E-520. The camera will be available in July for $599.99 for the body only. Packaged with an ED 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 zoom lens, it will cost $699.99.

The camera measures 5.35 x 3.6 x 2.68 inches and weighs 16.75 ounces. It accepts CompactFlash Type I and II, MicroDrive and xD-Picture card flash storage products, and connects to a Mac or PC using USB 2.0.

The E-520 sports a 10.1 megapixel sensor, and comes with in-body image stabilization, face detection auto-focus technology, shadow adjustment technology and the ability to view and select white balance and exposure compensation effects on the LCD screen.

The E-520 features "Live View" that lets you view what image the camera is capturing on the 2.7-inch LCD. Optional capabilities include underwater shooting (using the PT-E05 underwater housing) and wireless flash support (with Olympus' FL-50R and FL-36R wireless electronic flashes).

A dust reduction system vibrates the sensor to remove dust and other particles; they're rapped on an adhesive membrane to keep from creating spots on your images.
