Slick IMovie Plug-ins Maker 'graduates' to Final Cut
Peter Cohen, Macworld.com
Gee Three is now offering SlickFX plug-ins for Final Cut Express and final Cut Pro. The plug-ins offer Final Cut users transitions, effects, filters and generators for US$99.
Gee Three had long developed a series of Slick-branded plug-ins for Apple's iMovie software. When Apple released iMovie 7, that ended -- the new version, included with iLife '08, uses a radically different software architecture that doesn't support those plug-ins any more. Gee Three's response was to develop plug-ins for Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro, using Apple's "FxPlug" architecture.
SlickFX includes more than 60 plug-ins, including transitions, filters, titles and generators suitable for a broad range of video projects, according to the developer. The plug-ins include pre-sets to help you get started right away. Almost 100 sample movies and a screencast have been posted on the Web site to give you an idea of what the plug-ins can do.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later, Final Cut Express 4 or later and Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 or later. They're Universal binaries.
