Rumor: PS3 Slim to Be Revealed at Gamescom

The oft-rumored PS3 Slim may well be seeing the light of day before the end of this month if French video site JVN are to be believed. The site claims to have contacted an anonymous retailer who stated that the PS3 Slim is indeed in the works, and will be available for 100 euros less than the current model. The anonymous retailer also told JVN that the console would be revealed at Cologne's Gamescom, which will take place from August 19th through the 23rd. Keep your ears to the horn during Gamescom next week to see if these rumors are anything more than that.

Beatles fans have even more to look forward to, as MTV Games revealed 15 more tracks that will be included in The Beatles: Rock Band. Combined with the tracks which were previously unveiled at this year's E3, the released tracks account for over half of the 45 songs which will be in the game. See below for list of songs (and their corresponding venues) revealed this morning.

Modern Warfare Sales Expected to Break Records

According to analysts, the sequel to 2007's successful shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be the biggest entertainment release of all time, topping currently held records by Grand Theft Auto IV (which in turn topped previous champ Halo 3).

Analyst Mike Hickey of Janco Partners said of Modern Warfare 2's potential success, "It's possible that the game could be one of the largest entertainment releases of all time. If you assume similar channel unit sales velocity as ['Grand Theft Auto IV'], the game could potentially sell through 7.8 million units globally with an estimated retail value of more than $569 million in the first week... It's possible the game could sell through to consumers 4.6 million units globally with an estimated retail value of more than $338 million in the first day."

Sims 3 Jumps the Gun

It looks like pirates have crashed EA's party once again by spreading a leaked version of The Sims 3 on many torrent sites. Without linking to any of these sites, users are stating that the leaked game "plays just fine." The leaked version apparently contains little to none of the DRM restrictions or online activation requirements that got gamers in a fuss over Spore, and as such is currently spreading like wildfire. EA has yet to comment on the leak. Look for The Sims 3 on June 3rd.
