Critic Slams Ghana's Telecom Policies

A prominent figure in Africa's ICT industry has slammed Ghanaian policies for discouraging local participation in the growing telecommunication sector.

The ratio of foreign ownership of telecommunication facilities to local ownership is 99 to one, while the current economic stability and regulatory policies in the country favor foreign investments, said Professor Nii Narku Quaynor, the convener of the African Network Operations Group.

Ghana to Benefit From Africa's Largest Technology Park

The nonprofit group Life for Africa will establish the continent's largest technology park in Ghana.

Stakeholders in the technology industry from around the world met at a conference in Accra, "Africa NOW: Building Technology for the Future Generations," from July 14 to 18 to design a plan for the park, which will be situated near the Tema seaport and free zone enclave.

Ghana Adopts E-schools Project

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has partnered with Intel to boost the practical understanding of science and math in schools across the country.

The study of mathematics and science is a dreadful academic exercise among a number of students because of the lack of physical and visual demonstrations, admitted Reverend Emmanuel Dadebo, coordinator of GES' E-Schools Initiative. GES has accepted the challenge to introduce a long-overdue change in the curriculum, he said.
