iPhone Expected to Boost Mobile Game Market

Apple will drive the game market with the iPhone, according to a survey of 8,000 gamers in North America, Europe and Australia.

The survey, by Research and Markets, found that 54 per cent of respondents in North America and 69 per cent of respondents in Europe had played a game on their mobile phone in the past year. (See "Best iPhone Games")

Intel's Classmate Laptop Due in UK

classmate, intel, lapotpAn Intel-developed child-friendly laptop originally designed for the developing world will be available in the UK from February.

Sold directly to schools, online at Amazon and in Argos stores, the Intel laptop the Classmate, rebadged as the Otomo, could chip away at Apple's strong positioning in the UK education market, although the Classmate is aimed particularly at very young children.

Google Offers 'Experimental' Quick Search Box Tool for Macs

Google has released a search box tool for Macs which it believes will eventually make searching outside the browser a breeze.

In a Google blog posting the company revealed that it is interested in beta testers willing to participate in taking the Google Quick Search Box from an "experimental" state to a fully formed powerful search tool.

Opera, the Web browser, is looking for feedback from users over how the User Interface (UI) appears on different on different platforms and how it should look in the future.
