WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange may be extradited to Sweden for questioning about allegations of sexual offenses, the U.K. Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday, upholding a lower court ruling and dismissing Assange's appeal.

The Swedish Prosecution Authority issued a European Arrest Warrant for Assange in November 2010, seeking his extradition to Sweden for questioning over allegations of sexual offenses. He was arrested in London on Dec. 7, 2010, and placed under virtual house arrest while courts examined the extradition request, which he opposed.

European privacy regulators want better answers from Google about its privacy policy, and the way it informs its users about changes to it.

Last month Google responded to a questionnaire about the policy sent by the French National Commission on Computing and Liberty (CNIL), acting on behalf of the European Union's national data privacy regulators.

Amazon Web Services has extended its CloudFront web hosting service to include dynamic content that can be personalized for each visitor.

Websites already using CloudFront to host or cache static page elements can now also use it to serve up dynamic elements that are personalized for each user from servers within AWS's EC2 compute cloud, the company said Monday. Pricing is the same as for static data, starting at US$0.12/GB (or $0.02/GB after the first 5PB) and $0.0075 per 10,000 HTTP requests.

LightSquared has a further two years in which to seek regulatory approval for its LTE mobile network in the U.S. before it must begin making payments to its radio spectrum supplier Inmarsat, the companies announced Friday.

The first quarterly spectrum rental payment of US$29.6 million fell due on March 31, but now LightSquared has negotiated a reprieve until March 31, 2014, at the latest. It also has the option to resume payments -- and begin using the spectrum -- on any date before then, the companies said.

The Technology Academy Finland has shortlisted Linus Torvalds for its 2012 Millennium Technology Prize, worth over €1 million (US$1.3 million).

SAP published preliminary figures for its first-quarter results on Friday, showing revenue up 11 percent year on year, but margins shrinking with operating profit up only 6 percent.

Software and software-related service revenue amounted to €2.62 billion (US$3.49 billion as of March 31, the last day of the period reported), up 13 percent year on year, while software revenue grew 4 percent, to €640 million, according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), SAP said.

Yahoo websites worldwide will comply with visitors' "do not track" preferences starting later this year, Yahoo announced Wednesday.

Most major browsers are now able to send a message to sites visited, indicating whether users want their surfing behavior to be tracked by cookies for the purposes of displaying personalized ads. In February the last major hold-out, Google, announced that its Chrome browser will include do-not-track support by the end of the year.

Bull has unveiled a new transaction processing application platform, Libert TP, which it says will allow businesses to move legacy applications from Cobol or C to a Java environment at their own pace.

"We have customers who have huge repositories of business methods written in Cobol or C. They should be running on a modern platform like Java EE," said Laurent de Jerphanion, marketing manager for Libert TP.

Hewlett-Packard Wednesday announced the merger of its Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) and its Personal Systems Group (PSG) in what it called an effort to drive profitable growth for the entire company, but analysts questioned whether the reorganization will cut costs significantly.
