Google To Allow New EtherPad Creation; Will Release EtherPad Source

Last week was a busy one for acquisitions: Apple bought Lala, a streaming music service, and Google acquired AppJet, makers of realtime collaborative text editing software EtherPad. Google announced that the AppJet developers (many of whom previously worked for Google) would be joining the Google Wave team, improving the services offered by the new Wave product.

When Google acquires a company, it tends to immediately suspend new account creation for the acquired company's products. Remember playing with the bulky transistors that came with your first electronics kit? The most important part of modern electronics, the transistor has been shrinking since its discovery in the 1920's. Smaller transistors mean smaller and faster chips, and now scientists have found the smallest transistor to date.

A functional transistor recently discovered by researchers from Finland and Australia has an active region composed of a single atom. Although this transistor would be difficult to incorporate into your DIY project, its discovery means that a new generation of atom-scale processors could be close at hand, leading eventually to nano-scale computers and devices.

Securing Your iPhone Jailbreak

Between the harmless but cautionary Rickrolling worm and the much less friendly iPhone/Privacy.A worm that was able to access personal data without any indication, iPhone jailbreaking has been getting a lot of coverage lately- though not necessarily the kind of coverage the community wants or needs. To those who have already jailbroken, or are considering making the jump- fear not! Your jailbroken iPhone can be just as, if not even more secure than any stock iPhone. Here are a few tips.
