Fujitsu Roadmap Reveals Ultrabooks, Tablets

Fujitsu Roadmap Reveals Ultrabooks, TabletsFujitsu’s 2012 lineup of tablets and laptops includes two Ultrabooks with Intel’s new Ivy Bridge processor, a slate tablet with a detachable dock and a Windows 8 tablet.

First out of the gate will be the two new Ultrabooks, coming in May. The only details available about the devices is that they will run Ivy Bridge, according to Notebook Italia, and that red will be a color option aside from the typical silver or black. If these Fujitsu Ultrabooks do indeed arrive in May, they would be among the first Ivy Bridge laptops to launch. Ivy Bridge chips are supposed to improve performance and battery life, so it will be interesting to see the Ultrabooks in action.

PlayStation Vita Teardown: 5 Findings

PlayStation Vita Teardown: 5 FindingsMost PlayStation Vita owners won't dig any deeper than the game cartridge slot, so iFixit has done its usual thing and cracked open the handheld gaming system. Here are five findings from iFixit's PlayStation Vita teardown:

Easy to rip open

In a refreshing change of pace from locked-down phones and tablets, the Vita easily comes apart with a small Phillips screwdriver and a plastic prying tool. There's not too much adhesive inside, unlike the recently torn down Droid 4, and the battery pops out with no trouble once its Phillips screws are removed.

Report: Intel May Delay Ivy Bridge, Most of 2012 Looking 'Dark' for Notebook Industry

You may have to wait a little longer for that new Ivy Bridge ultrabook: Volume shipments of Intel's upcoming 22 nanometer die shrink of its Sandy Bridge architecture will be delayed, says Asian news (though as often rumormonger) site DigiTimes. Why? Because consumers aren't snapping up notebooks fast enough.

DT's source says Intel is actively notifying its partners of plans to delay volume shipments of Ivy Bridge this spring, though the site adds Intel will still announce and ship the processor in limited quantities in early April (if true, early adopters, expect to pay even more dearly for one). For volume shipments of the new processor, you'll have to wait until June.

How Secure is My Facebook Information?

Spiderowych found some private Facebook information online, and asked the Web Browsing and Email forum if the social network is safe.

I use Facebook, but I wouldn't post my credit card number there--or anything really embarrassing. You have to be careful about what information you give it and with whom you allow it to share that information.

Boost Your Morning Productivity by Avoiding E-Mail

E-mailI'm not what you would call a morning person--indeed, I tend to greet mornings with the same enthusiasm as I greet tax collectors and my dentist--but it's definitely my most productive time of day.

Know why? Nope, it's not the coffee kicking in (I drink decaf), but rather a small change I recently made to my morning routine: I don't check e-mail when I start my day.

Facebook to Verify Accounts, Allow Use of Nicknames

Facebook to Verify Accounts, Allow Use of NicknamesIn a move against Twitter, and perhaps Google+, Facebook will begin verifying the accounts of celebrities and other public figures. Once an account is verified, the user will be able to use an "alternative name" or nickname as their Facebook name, and will appear more often in lists of "People to Subscribe To."

Facebook will immediately begin verifying accounts, starting with users who have "many subscribers," according to TechCrunch. The verification process will be similar to Twitter’s: you cannot volunteer yourself to be verified; you have to be chosen by Facebook's team.

Lego Minecraft Micro World Set Finally Here, Everyone Rejoice

Here at GeekTech, the entire team has eagerly awaited the launch of the Minecraft Lego set since it was just a small possibility back in December. Since then, the good people over at Lego CUUSOO and the Minecraft community have generated enough interest for Lego to approve the sets, and finally you can now get a glimpse of the finished project.

Named Lego Minecraft Micro World, three Lego fans developed the final design: Chris Malloy, Kyle Tingey, and Bjarne Tveskov. The set comprises of a typical mine with a hilly terrain on top, and all the essential minerals hidden underground. The set includes two characters—Steve and of course, a Creeper. As with many Lego sets, not only are there variations of the build, but also plenty of bricks to create your own Minecraft playground.

Hulu Enters Original Content Biz with 'Battleground' Series

Hulu Gets Into Original Content Biz with Series Called 'Battleground'Hulu's New SeriesHulu on Tuesday launched "Battleground," an original new "dramedy" series. The move pits the online video streaming service, Hulu, again Netflix, that also recently launched an original series. Both hope to attract and retain customers with original content. Hulu's "Battleground" will have a 13-episode run and is a series that focuses on the lives of workers in a fictional campaign for a U.S. Senate seat in Wisconsin.

Unlike Netflix, which recently posted all eight episodes of its new series "Lilyhammer" to its website on the same day, Hulu will release one 22-minute episode of "Battleground" every Tuesday.

Apple to Ban Apps that Harvest Personal Data

We finally know what can get the traditionally-stoic Apple to speak up on its policies: a letter from the government. This week House Energy & Commerce Committee Chair Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Commerce Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee Chair G.K. Butterfield (D-NC) contacted Apple CEO Tim Cook about "whether Apple's iOS app developer policies and practices may fall short when it comes to protecting the information of iPhone users and their contacts."

In response, Apple now says that developers need to notify users before they upload and, in some cases, store your contacts on their servers. It's surprising that the address book issue hasn't come up before and even more surprising how quickly the tech behemoth responded to the issue of app makers sucking data off your smartphone without express permission.
