Western Digital unveiled its new environmentally friendly, energy-conscious GreenPower family of enterprise hard drive products. The new WD RE2 GreenPower hard drives come in 500GB, 750 GB and 1TB capacity.
The WD RE2-GP hard drives are designed with power savings as the primary attribute. Reportedly, the new hard drives consume an average of 4-5 watts less than other drives available in the market.
The hard drives come with exclusive Intelligent Drive Technology. The IntelliPower, IntelliSeek and the IntelliPark technologies enable the WD RE2-GP platform.
The WD GreenPower drives monitor work load and automatically invoke idle mode whenever possible to further reduce unnecessary power consumption.
The WD RE2 GreenPower 500 GB drive is priced at US$165; the 750GB drive, $241; and the 1TB drive, for $342.
