Canon on Monday introduced the Pixma MX7600, a new all-in-one office printer that's Mac OS X and Windows-compatible.

It costs $399.99.

The Pixma 7600 utilizes a "Lucia" inkjet system which uses pigment-based inks. A "clear" ink is used to initially cover the print surface, which lets the pigment bond to produce better-looking graphics without causing plain paper to wrinkle or get over-saturated, according to Canon. The printer can output up to 28 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 23 ppm color.

The MX7600 features an automatic document feeder (ADF) and can handle auto-duplex (two-sided) and two-way paper feeding. The device can scan and print at the same time, as well. The printer comes with built-in 10/100-baseTX Ethernet connectivity and software that can limit access and restrict printing of PDF files by adding passwords. It also has a built-in Super G3 color fax, and can record up to 250 pages in memory, one-touch speed dial for eight numbers and coded speed dial for up to 100 locations.

The Pixma MX7600 is also suitable for outputting photos, according to Canon, as it uses the same pigment-based ink found in Canon's wide-format and Pro9500 photo printer line. It can produce images at up to 4800 x 1200 dots per inch. It supports PictBridge-equipped cameras and also can print out from memory cards. It has a 1.8-inch LCD display so you can review images before printing.
