Apple Offers HD Movie Sales on ITunes

Apple on Thursday expanded the movie offerings on the iTunes Store to include HD downloads. HD movies on iTunes will cost US$19.99 to buy and $4.99 to rent.

Among the HD movies available on the store for HD purchase will be "The Spirit," "Punisher: War Zone," and pre-orders for "Quantum of Solace" and "Twilight." Apple has a new section setup in iTunes showing the available HD movies.

The HD movies can be played on a Mac, PC and on widescreen TV with Apple TV, as well as in standard definition on the iPhone or iPod with video.

The iTunes Store now has more than 10 million songs, over 40,000 TV episodes, and over 5,000 movies available for rent and purchase. Apple already has over 250 million TV episodes purchased and over 33 million movies purchased and rented.
