Western Digital Offers 2TB Hard Drive

Western Digital released the newest hard drive in its My Book like of external hard drives. The 2 terabyte drive is the largest available in a single drive system, the company said.

Western Digital said with the increase in consumer interest in movie-making, digital cameras and even downloads of television shows and movies from iTunes, hard drive space is becoming more of an issue. With a 2GB drive, most users would be able to backup their entire computer many times over.

The My Book series comes in several configurations. My Book Studio Edition is equipped with FireWire 400, FireWire 800, eSATA and USB 2.0. My Book Mac Edition external drives feature a USB 2.0 interface.

The My Book Studio Edition is available now; the My Book Mac Edition will be available next month. Western Digital said prices will vary between $329 and $379, depending on the model.
