If one analyst is to be believed, Windows 7 will be a far bigger hit with enterprises than was Vista. Information Technology Intelligence Corp. just released a survey saying 50 percent of businesses will upgrade to Windows 7 in the first year.
The report from Information Technology Intelligence Corp. (ITIC) was done in concert with Sunbel Software. It surveyed 1,600 businesses worldwide, and found that 30 percent will deploy Windows 7 in the first six months, and another 20 percent will deploy it within six months after that.
There's more good news in the survey as well. It found that:
An overwhelming 80% majority of the survey respondents rated Windows 7 performance and applications compatibility with legacy applications "Excellent" or "Very Good."
Worries about compatibility with legacy applications was one of the major issues that enterprises had with Windows Vista. So the fact that 80 percent of them rate it very good or excellent is very good news for Microsoft.
Of course, in the days before Windows Vista, there were a lot of rosy predictions issued as well, so it's hard to know how much credence to give to this one. But Microsoft is certainly happy to see something like this pre-launch.
