IoSafe Solid-state Drive

The ioSafe Solo ( Macworld rated 4 out of 5 mice ) is a unique drive. It's built with a heavy-duty case that can take a beating from fire or water and your data will be safe. (In our review, we tortured the Solo with a flame cannon and submerged it in water, and the drive mechanism survived.)

If your needs demand fast data access speeds, then you'll be interested to know ioSafe now offers a new solid-state drive-based Solo. The ioSafe Solo SSD uses an ArmorPlate case that's very similar to the ioSafe Solo. According to the company, the case can withstand 5000 pounds of "crush forces," up to 1000g shock, temperatures up to 1550°F for 30 minutes, and submersion of 30-inches deep for 30 days in water.

The drive has two connection options: USB 2.0 and eSATA.

ioSafe includes its Data Recovery Service that is activated with product registration. The Data Recovery Service can be extended for up to five years.

The ioSafe Solo SSD will be available in February. A 64GB drive is priced at $499. The 128GB drive is $749. A 256GB drive is $1250.
