MacPractice, which makes practice management and clinical software for doctors, dentists, chiropractors, and optometrists, is on hand at Macworld Expo in San Francisco this week to show off the latest versions of its offerings.
Version 3.7 of MacPractice MD, MacPractice DeC, and MacPractice 20/20 with MacPractice EMR includes a new Lab Ability feature that lets clinical staff create lab requisitions and track results. The 3.7 update also adds a Clinical Ledger capability that displays all clinical data from within MacPractice EMR.
Dentists aren't left out of the mix, either--MacPractice also rolled out the 3.7 release for its MacPractice DDS with MacPractice DR (that's digital radiography) at Expo. The application features restorative and periodontal charting integrated with MacPractice DR, so that dentists can associate images and notes with a tooth. MacPractice says it's also developed digital radiography solutions for SuniRay and Planmeca sensors, a new wireless XPod sensor, and panoramic and cephalometric imaging equipment.
MacPractice is splitting its time at Expo between its own Booth #748 at Moscone Center and MacSpeech's display on the show floor. MacPractice has a presence at the MacSpeech booth to demonstrate how MacPractice 3.7 works with the speech-recognition software maker's just-announced MacSpeech Scribe transcription application.
It's been a busy month for MacPractice, which earlier in February, said it would develop several medical and dental apps for use with Apple's forthcoming iPad. The news comes at a time when medical professionals seemly keenly interested in Apple's tablet--earlier this week, a survey by medical software maker Epocrates indicated that one in five doctors plan to buy an iPad within a year of the device's late March release.
