World of Warcraft: Cataclysm in Stores December 7

World of Warcraft fans have something to look forward to with the upcoming holiday season. Blizzard has announced that Cataclysm, the third expansion to its popular massive multiplayer online (MMO) game, will be released on Mac and Windows platforms December 7.

The story of Cataclysm revolves around the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing returning to destroy the in-game world of Azeroth. The expansion features two new playable races--Worgen and Goblins (pictured)--a new level cap of 85, new locations, new powers, and more.

The standard version of Cataclysm costs $40 and will be sold at retail stores and as a digital download through Blizzard's Online Store.

For die-hard fans, a special Collector's Edition packed with bonus items will be sold exclusively at retail stores for $80. The Collector's Edition will include at 176-page art book, a behind-the-scenes DVD featuring developer commentary, a CD soundtrack, a branded mouse pad, a starter deck with bonus cords for the WoW collectible trading card game, and the Lil' Deathwing in-game pet.
