Description of The Periwig-Maker

If you've had enough of sappy Hollywood movies and wish to be purged of every trace of sentimentality, try this stop-motion animation short. It chronicles one man's thoughts as he writes in his journal during the Plague in London.

This movie is based on the Daniel Defoe novel 'A Journal of the Plague Year.' In the character's writings, he ponders the significance of the epidemic, the means of detecting it, and the cures. Imagery of emptied streets and the hauling of the bodies by the townspeople drive home the bleakness of the times. This short is narrated by Kenneth Branaugh.
