Description of BlackIce PC Protection
Keeping snoops and viruses out of your system is important, but why not also get information on the perpetrators? BlackIce PC Protection (formerly BlackIce Defender) scans and decodes individual communications packets traveling through your DSL, cable modem, or dial-up Internet connection looking for hacker activity. When it detects an attempted intrusion, it automatically blocks traffic from that source, keeping intruders from accessing your system.
BlackICE Defender not only detects and stops suspicious and hostile activity on your computer, it also collects valuable data about the intruder, such as the hacker's IP address, computer name (NetBIOS name), and hardware address (MAC address). BlackICE Defender can keep comprehensive logs of everything hackers send to your computer.
BlackICE displays all the details about the attacks to your system. This includes information about intruders and how the software responded to each attack. The charts list the severity and origins of all intrusions. Additionally, a real-time network usage graph helps spot trends and increased Internet activity.
This version introduces Application Protection, which shields your laptop, PC, or workstation from worms, hijacking, Trojan horses, and other menaces.
