Description of Panda ActiveScan

Do you suspect that your hard drive may have been infected by a virus or a Trojan horse? Are you getting conflicting reports from your antivirus software? Panda ActiveScan, a free online antivirus utility, will allow you to detect and eliminate any of over 90,000 viruses and Trojan horses. You can access this utility from a Web site, but you cannot download it onto your computer. It uses Microsoft ActiveX technology and works within your browser. ActiveScan is updated at least once a day, and can scan e-mail messages and compressed files.

ActiveScan looks for other malware, too: dialers, hacking tools, jokes, and security risks. Its heuristic system detects even some unknown malware.

Note: ActiveScan is a service, not a download, so you won't be installing any programs. When you click the link, you'll be directed to Panda Software's site, where you can use the free service. If you have not used the service before, you may need to install its ActiveX controls.

  Strengths: The Name, Panda.. Makes me think of a fuzzy bear. Thats all..

  Weaknesses: Lack Of Information. Doesnt say it deletes it.. It Just tells you its there

  Overall Evaluation: Wow, what a waste of electricity. They Seriously need to work on whatever it is they do. Im not sure... Funny how pcw rates it 5 stars.. Must of got paid. Well, that was a waste of time, Now to find a real anti virus program.. Ill find one pcw rats 1 star. Thoes are the best.. What a bad joke

  Weaknesses: the product, the company. Call tech support and you'll see. make sure you hit the bathroom before you call. it'll be a while

  Overall Evaluation: if there was a less than poor option i would click it. I unfortunatley bought the product but was unable to use it. Called tech support 1st time on hold for 2 hours before anyone answered and they couldnt help me. 2nd time for 1.5 before someone picked up with no results and they actually hung up on me. 2 days later, they emailed me and i was able to get in.. The scanner is a joke and has a virus.. Even the paid version does not wrk. It crashed my wifes computer with a virus!!! This company is the worst company i have ever dealt with. They are a joke and so is this software. I have no idea what operatOr is on but to give them 5 stars.. ARE YOU FN KIDDING ME..STAY AWAY

  Weaknesses: Clicked removed threats and got blue screen, computer would not reboot even in safe mode, paid $12.95 for them to do worse than any virus I could have had.

  Overall Evaluation: Worst software I've ever used or virus I have not used.

  Overall Evaluation: Frightening. Found these Trojan files 2 minutes after download: APPFLT.CFG, APPFLT.CFG.bck, APPFCONT.DAT, APPFCONT.DAT.bck in system32\drivers. Almost killed my system. Antivirus in "threats" was totally grayed out.
