Do you like pretty, sparkly things? Then get the free nfsDiamond screen saver onto your computer, pronto. The screen shot just doesn't do it justice: When your system is idle, the display is filled with translucent, sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds cascading in an endless waterfall of bling.
The screen saver ran smoothly at its highest quality setting on my aging, underpowered Windows 7 ThinkPad. If your graphics processor is even older than mine, though, you can use the screen saver's Settings to reduce the graphics quality. The only quibble I have with nfsDiamond is that you can't control the speed of the cascading diamonds; it would have been nice to slow them down a bit.
I know, screen savers like nfsDiamond aren't technically necessary for today's LCD monitors--but they sure are fun.
