Shared folders and open ports are some of the biggest threats to your network. Yet many people who run networks, especially home and small business networks, have no idea whether they have this kind of vulnerability. NetBrute Scanner lets you know, and it does the job very quickly.
The program scans your network for all devices, then looks on those devices and finds shared folders and resources. You can either point NetBrute Scanner at a single computer (as long as you know its network address), or else tell it to scan an entire range of IP address. I've found that when I tell it to scan an entire range of IP addresses, it sometimes doesn't find all PCs. But when I point it at a specific IP address, it always seems to do the job.
NetBrute also scans PCs on your network for open TCP ports. In that way, you can see what Web servers, FTP servers, and similar software is installed. And it shows you where your port vulnerabilities are.
Finally, NetBrute Scanner includes a utility that checks Web servers on your network to see if they are vulnerable to "dictionary attacks," which involve trying combinations of user names and passwords to gain access to the Webmaster's account.
