    Strengths: Does what it claims

    Weaknesses: No resizing, no editing

    Overall Evaluation: Will work OK with 16-col bmp files previously created in "Paint"

    Strengths: It does convert a "picture" to an icon...

    Weaknesses: It does not tell you the picture has to be pre-sized or that you can only select a 32 x 32 pixel area of a pic. It also does not tell you that after you get the icon file you will have to use an image program (I used GIMP) to get the colors right.

    Overall Evaluation: I have not tried other icon conversion programs, hopefully there is better available. But it does do just what it claims, it makes an icon file which you can then use as an icon. Read the help file, you need Visual Basic Runtime 6 installed (downloadable) then when that doesn't work you have to install some obscure file that is missing. Keep going to google, in the end you will succeed. Only reason I tried is because when all the other reviewers said it is useless. However if you use paint to make a simple pic then you can use this to convert it to an icon. I made it work! btw, no spyware detected...

    Strengths: No install required - and it's fast too.

    Weaknesses: All it does is allow you to open a large graphic and select a small square (there's no scaling/resizing) to be converted to an ICO file.

    Overall Evaluation: There is no point downloading thls - it does nothing useful, sorry.

    Overall Evaluation: As usual, the FREE downloads from PCW are usually CRAP, and this CRAP is just excactly "Get whut you pay for.... NUTHIN!!!

    Strengths: At least it wasn't a huge download.

    Weaknesses: All it does is crop out a 90x90 pixel chunk of the source image.... which is more or less USELESS. And the icons it "creates" have the color screwed all up in them, which makes this program WORSE THAN USELESS.

    Overall Evaluation: This POS isn't worth the time it takes to download it.... and it only took a few seconds to download. The only reason I gave this POS a rating of 1 star is because you cant give a rating of ZERO stars.
